You can get a excellent one at windbluepower(dot)com for 239$. Thats the one I have one mine. Just check out the site. You can but it piece by piece. You can get the whole thing for 239 or just the rotar for rotar for 114$ stator for 59$ and housing for 22$. The one I have works fantastic.

Thanks I’m in the process of welding the tower and rebuilding a small 20/1 worm gear transmission. I’m trying to locate a DC motor to use for the generator but everything Ive found is out of my price range. I was thinking about replacing the armature in a GM alternator but its still too pricey.

I’ve checked them …
I’ve checked them out before. How much torque is required to turn a permanent magnet alternator under load? I’m not plotting on using a battery bank I intend to grid tie with a rectifier and a UL listed power inverter. I was looking at the DC-520 or 540 models. With my 1:20 gear box I can get about 1200 rpm in a 10 mph wind. Reckon its a excellent fit?

The axle is one inch bar stock. I had some laying around but you could find some at a steel supply company. I found most of my parts (bearings, flanges) at Tractor Supply Co. its a chain of farm supply stores in Michigan. ( They also have bar stock) Try finding them online. Its no problem question away.

How bout a belt …
How bout a belt drive to an ancient car alternator charging a car battery with a converter to AC? Should be honestly cheap and excellent enough for testing how much work it will produce.
